Schools make food available to students

Food is available through local schools and establishments as people deal with the coronavirus. Starting today, Tiffin City Schools is to offer a free cold sack lunch and breakfast every day of the school week for preK-12 at drop sites. Students must be present to pick up their own meals, and the name of each student is to be recorded for tracking purposes. Hopewell-Loudon Schools announced that starting Wednesday, meal bags may be picked up 10-10:15 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the school, Venue 18 in Fostoria or Rural King in Tiffin. Monday meal bags are to contain two lunches and one breakfast, Wednesday meal bags are to contain two breakfasts and two lunches, and Friday's meal bag is to contain two breakfasts and one lunch, according to the district. People can sign up on the district website. Bascom Communications has set up a temporary free WiFi connection at PJ's Brickhouse for those who don't have an Internet connection. Users are able to gain access to "Bascom Free WiFi" from their vehicles. Little Hugo's announced that starting today, it will be giving a free hot dog and bag of chips to Tiffin preK-12 students 11 a.m.-noon Monday through Friday while schools are closed. Children must be there in person. Sauced in New Riegel, with help from an anonymous donor, announced it is going to offer free boxed lunches to parents who have children who depend on lunches provided by area schools Monday through Friday. Sauced is to offer two options, including either a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a ham and cheese sandwich, apple, carrots and a bag of chips 11 a.m.-1 p.m Monday through Friday, through April 3, while schools are closed. Lunches can be obtained through the drive-through. Old Fort Local School District is to continue to provide breakfast and lunch to families qualifying for free and reduced meals. Meals are to be available for pick-up daily at the Old Fort Junior High/High School building and Old Fort Elementary – Bettsville campus beginning Wednesday. People must fill out the form online or call (419) 992-4291, ext. 104. Seneca East Local School District is to offer brown-bag breakfast and lunch to any student who needs it, beginning today. Meals can be picked up at school 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday. Monday's pick-up is to include three breakfasts and three lunches, and Thursday's pick-up is to include two breakfasts and two lunches, according to the district. Families can pull-up by the front office doors, and meals are to be delivered to the vehicle after student names are provided. People should fill out the online form by 8 a.m. the day of pick-up. Fostoria City Schools is to provide free meals for students Monday through Friday at Fostoria Elementary School and the bus garage, 402 E. Fremont St. Pick-up is 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and the program starts today. Meals are to be a sack lunch and breakfast for the next day and are for students 18 and younger, according to the district. A student must be in the vehicle during pick-up for verification purposes, according to the district. People should sign up on the district's website. Lakota Local Schools is to have lunch and breakfast options available for all students Wednesday through April 3. Double lunch and breakfast meals are to be available Monday and Wednesday, and a single serving is to be available Friday, according to the district. Lunch and breakfast orders may be picked up 11 a.m.-noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the school cafeteria. People should enter the building through the high school entrance. All lunch/breakfast items are to go, and one person may pick up for the family. According to Carey Exempted Village School District, the school cafeteria is to offer grab-and-go breakfast and lunch meals to any student who needs them, beginning Wednesday and continuing on weekdays until April 3. Pick-up is to be 9-11 a.m. at the back door of the cafeteria, located in the back of the building. Parents/guardians can request the meals for the duration of the time period by filling out the form on the district's website. Mohawk Local School District is to offer grab-and-go lunches for all students. Lunches can be picked up at the school's main entrance 10:30 a.m.-noon starting today, and lunches are to be available Monday through Friday during the closure. Clyde-Green Springs Schools is to offer grab-and-go breakfast and lunch meals to students during the school closure starting March 23. Pick up times are 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday of each week, and one lunch and the next day's breakfast are to be picked up at the same time. Families should sign up on the district's website. Bellevue City Schools expressed appreciation to Bellevue Fish & Loaves Backpack Program for providing extra food to help students during spring break. Officials are to begin food distribution throughout the community after spring break, which is Monday through Friday. Vanguard Tech Center in Fremont is to continue its breakfast and lunch program. The grab-and-go service is to begin Tuesday.
