Toledo man sentenced to prison after incident in Fostoria

A Toledo man accused of forcing open a door and assaulting two women in Fostoria pleaded guilty to two charges and was sentenced to three years in prison Thursday. Montrice D. Coleman, 27, had been charged with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, and disrupting public services, a fourth-degree felony. He pleaded guilty to a lesser-included offense of burglary, a third-degree felony, and disrupting public services, a fourth-degree felony, during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff's courtroom. Coleman had been accused of forcing open a door at 421 S. Poplar St., Fostoria, and breaching another inner kitchen door, gaining access to the inside of the residence, according to court records. He also had been accused of chasing the two female occupants up to the second floor and assaulting them. Shuff followed the joint recommendation and sentenced Coleman to three years in prison, with credit for 103 days served. Coleman is eligible for early judicial release. Seneca County Prosecutor's Office agreed to remain silent about judicial release. Coleman declined to speak before sentencing.
