Bouillon sworn in as NR mayor

NEW RIEGEL — Larry Bouillon was sworn in as mayor of New Riegel Tuesday evening. Andy Brickner and Rick Kessler were sworn in as council members. Jim Bodart was reappointed as president of the council. Village residents are reminded of the snow fall ordinance, which requires cars to be off the streets when the snow fall exceeds 3 inches. Joe Worland of Sacksteader Worland Insurance attended the meeting to review the renewal of the village coverage. The policy was purchased through the Public Entity Pool. The cost of liability, property, employees and equipment totaled $4,622. The council set the hourly rate for street superintendent at $12 and $600 per month for the fiscal officer. Solicitor Richard Palau is to prepare the required Hazardous Mitigation Plan for the council's consideration at the February meeting. The council discussed the advisability of adding playground equipment at the ball park and the possibility of obtaining a grant. The council will advertise for bids for sealing Tiffin and Perry streets within the village limits. The project may be scheduled for 2021. Village residents wanting to have trees planted in the boulevard should contact council members.
