Tiffin man sentenced to 3 years in prison for robbery at Walmart

A Tiffin man accused of pushing down a Walmart employee pleaded guilty to a robbery charge Tuesday. Ronald H. Cyb, 46, had been charged with robbery, a second-degree felony. He pleaded guilty to a lesser-included offense of robbery, a third-degree felony, during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley's courtroom. Kelbley followed the sentence recommendation and sentenced Cyb to three years in prison. He granted credit for 127 days served. Cyb would be eligible for judicial release once he serves six months in prison. His attorney, Derek Dailey, said Cyb struggles with opiate addiction, and the goal eventually is to get him into CROSSWAEH or another community-based correctional facility. Cyb said going to jail saved his life, and he thanked officials for arresting him. "I'm sorry," he said. Tiffin Police Department officers had been sent to Walmart, 2801 W. SR 18, for a theft report. The asset protection officer advised Cyb shoved her to the ground when she attempted to stop him, according to a police department report. Cyb ran from officers through the employee entrance to Buffalo Wild Wings and was found in the restaurant's restroom, it states. The asset protection officer was able to locate the property he discarded while running near a retention pond, and the value of the five LEGO sets taken from Walmart is $116.79, according to the police report.
