Tiffin Glass Museum to close in January for display installations

The Tiffin Glass Museum and Shoppe will be closed the month of January for the purpose of installing new display cases. The decision was approved by the board of directors of the Tiffin Glass Collectors Club. According to Paul Coffman of the Tiffin Glass Museum, workers are going to prepare seven new display infinity showcases during this time — five cases in the museum and two in the store. The museum has about 2,000 glass pieces on display and is set to add about 500 more. "A lot of work needs to be done," Coffman said. Coffman said the decision to close in January was made because the month is a time where not many visitors come. The work needed to be done includes moving and cleaning the current glass pieces that are displayed and the glass that is not displayed. This time allows docents and workers to add additional displays and reset displays in the museum," Coffman said. "Also planned is an increase in glass available for sale in our Shoppe." Further details of the work will be given periodically on the club's website and Facebook page. The last day the museum and shoppe will be open is Dec. 28 and they are set to reopen Feb. 1.
