Sexual assault report investigated FOSTORIA — Fostoria Police Department investigated a report of a sexual assault. About 10 p.m. Monday, a woman reported she was sexually assaulted at North Main and Sandusky streets, according to a police report. Woman admits violation A Sycamore woman admitted she violated terms of her community control. Danni R. Warner, 33, admitted the violation during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley's courtroom, according to court records. Kelbley continued Warner's three years of community control. Warner must enter and complete a treatment program at Cliff Skeen Community Based Correction Facility for Women and is to be a resident at Lotus Recovery House upon her release, court records state. Warner had pleaded guilty to charges of complicity to safecracking, a fourth-degree felony, and complicity to theft and complicity to breaking and entering, fifth-degree felonies. Man indicted A man was indicted by a Seneca County grand jury. Heath D. Biederman, 34, was charged with escape, a third-degree felony, according to court records. State of Ohio Restores Funding for the Believe in Ohio Program COLUMBUS, CLEVELAND — The Ohio Academy of Science and Entrepreneurial Engagement Ohio announced the State of Ohio is providing $2 million in funding to re-launch the Believe in Ohio program. Believe in Ohio is a free, comprehensive, experiential learning STEM entrepreneurship and innovation program for Ohio high school students that was collaboratively developed by The Ohio Academy of Science and Entrepreneurial Engagement Ohio. Originally launched in 2013 with funding from the State of Ohio, during the years 2014-2016, the program included over 300 teachers at more than 150 high schools in 50+ Ohio counties, with more than 10,000 students developing STEM Commercialization and STEM Business Plans for entry into local high school competitions. More than $1.2 million in cash awards and scholarships to Ohio colleges and universities were awarded to winners of Believe in Ohio state competitions during those years. In addition, since 2014, more than 8,000 students and teachers have attended one of 43 STEM Entrepreneurship & Innovation Forums held at 17 colleges and universities across Ohio. Students who attended Forums participated in an extraordinary program that opened their eyes to the future and inspired them to "think outside the box." At the end of each Forum, students working in teams were given an opportunity to "pitch" their innovative product ideas and problem-solving solutions to their peers. Due to 2017-2018 state budget shortfalls, Believe in Ohio did not receive continued funding and had to be suspended. However, with state funding restored in the recently approved state budget, the Believe in Ohio program is being relaunched for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years.
