13th annual Latino Fest hits downtown Fostoria Saturday

FOSTORIA – Fostoria's 13th annual Latino Fest is to take place in downtown Fostoria Saturday from 2 p.m.-midnight. The Latino Fest will offer a variety of food, a beer tent, games and live music throughout the day and evening, Shelly Garcia of the coordinating committee said. "We'll have a DJ beginning at 2 p.m., and about 4:15 rock band Parallel Universe will hit the stage," Garcia said. "There will be a variety of other upbeat Latino music groups playing after that, and the band Midwest Conjuntos will close the evening, playing from 9 p.m. until midnight." Food vendor options will range between Mexican, Cuban and American cuisines among others, Garcia said. There will also be trinket vendors and booths, a farmer's stand, inflatables for kids and a non-registration car show, which will take place on Main Street just off of North Street downtown, she said. "Everybody has a good time at the festival each year," she said. "We've run the festival for 13 years, and it has grown each year. Last year we had about 1,400 people there." Garcia said Ed Galan, owner of Venue 18 Entertainment Complex at 11295 W. SR 18, Fostoria, and Jesse Garcia are the main festival runners, though a committee of eight locals puts the festival's various pieces together each year.
