Crews respond to accidents Friday

State Highway Patrol responded to several accidents Friday. A person reported about 5:50 a.m. a vehicle on its side on West SR 12. A State Highway Patrol spokeswoman said Gregory Cox, 62, of Fostoria, was driving a Volkswagen Beetle east on SR 12. He swerved to avoid a deer that ran out in front of him and drove off the right side of the road, she said. The vehicle returned to the road, went off the right side of the road a second time and rolled, she said. Cox was wearing a seatbelt and was cited with failure to control, she said. Personnel from Bettsville EMS, Kansas Volunteer Fire Department, the county's Echo unit and Seneca County Sheriff's Office assisted. A rollover accident was reported on SR 53, near TR 90, about 5:15 p.m. Friday. A State Highway Patrol spokesman said Renee Traxler, 54, of Tiffin, was driving a Subaru Outback north on SR 53 and fell asleep. The vehicle went left of center and struck a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven south on SR 53 by Lisa Mullholand, 52, of Tiffin, he said. The Subaru went off the road, struck a ditch and rolled onto its top. Traxler had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital, he said. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and Traxler was cited with left of center, he said. Personnel from NBS EMS, Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department and the Echo unit responded.
