Man's body found along railroad tracks

FOSTORIA — The body of a Fostoria man was found along railroad tracks Sunday morning. About 10:30 a.m. Sunday, a 911 caller reported to Fostoria Police Department a man was lying near railroad tracks at South Adams and West Tiffin streets and appeared to be unconscious, according to a police report. Chief Keith Loreno of Fostoria Police Department identified the man as Brett A. Barchus, 21, of Fostoria. Barchus was pronounced dead about 10:40 a.m., the police report states. Detective Shilo Frankart of Fostoria Police Department said it looked like Barchus got hit by a train at least once, and he did not know when he died. No foul play was suspected, according to Loreno. Hancock County's coroner ordered an autopsy, which is to be conducted this week by Lucas County Coroner's Office. Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation's crime scene unit, Fostoria Fire Division and CSX police assisted. The incident was under investigation Sunday.
