Man critically injured in rollover accident

A Fremont man was critically injured in a rollover accident on SR 101 Wednesday morning. According to the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol, Alan Blodgett, 35, was driving a Dodge south on SR 101. Sgt. Matt Davis said the vehicle went off the road at a curve and continued for 1,100 feet before it came to rest on its top. The vehicle rolled at least five times, he said. Davis said there were no signs of braking, and he believed speed was a factor. Blodgett couldn't get out of the vehicle on his own and was pulled through a window, he said. Capt. Charles Horne of Green Springs Rural Volunteer Fire Department said extrication tools were used to cut off a door. Blodgett was taken by ProMedica's air ambulance to ProMedica The Toledo Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said he was in critical condition in an intensive care unit Wednesday. Sgt. Kent Jeffries of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Blodgett did not have permission to have the car. Davis said Blodgett had a suspended license, and it was unknown whether he was wearing a seatbelt. A gun and white and brown powdered substances were found, he said. No citations had been issued at the scene. Personnel from North Central EMS, Green Springs Rural Volunteer Fire Department, Old Fort Volunteer Fire Department, Seneca County Sheriff's Office and John's Welding and Towing assisted at the scene of the accident, which was reported about 9:20 a.m.
