Cedar Point extends season passes to 2021

SANDUSKY — Cedar Point decided to make 2020 season passes valid for the remainder of 2020 as well as 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The amusement park planned to open for its 150th season on May 9, but the coronavirus pandemic caused by the new COVID-19 strain resulted in the park deciding to delay its opening till at least mid-May. "We want nothing more than to reopen our park and welcome you back, but our priority, for now, is to keep everyone safe," said Jason McClure, the park's vice president and general manager. Before the pandemic, Cedar Point saw a record number of presales for season passes for the 2020 season, which had a number of special events planned for the park's 150th-anniversary celebration. In response to the shortened season, Cedar Point announced it would extend the validity of passes for the remainder of the 2020 season when the park opens as well as the 2021 season. The park also recently suspended the billing for people who purchased passes through the Easy Pay Program. Payments will resume when the park opens and people will only be charged their normal monthly amount until they are finished paying it off. They must be up to date on payments for the pass to be valid during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. "This is a challenging time for us all, and we thank you again for your understanding and loyalty to Cedar Point," McClure said.
