Clouse, Warriors knock back Old Fort

SYCAMORE — Paityn Clouse belted two homers, doubled in two more runs and scored three times, and picked up the pitching win Thursday as Mohawk dominated Old Fort 12-2. The Warriors never trailed, taking a 2-0 lead in the first on RBI singles by Makenna Hurley and Jordan Tyree. Aubrie Harper and Tess Weinandy both scored. Mohawk broke the game open in the second inning with a six-run burst. Jackie Hamilton singled in Marah Gillig, Clouse doubled in Hamilton and Madi Chester, Harper smacked a two-run homer, and Gillig later singled in Weinandy. Clouse added a two-run homer in the third, scoring Chester, and led off the fifth with a solo homer for Mohawk. Victoria Phillips also singled in Weinandy in the fifth. Clouse didn't record any strikeouts in the circle, but scattered three hits and three walks while not allowing an earned run. The Stockaders got both of their runs in the third inning. Ashlynn Magers and Emily Hull each reached on errors, with MarQue Harris driving in Magers with a sac fly and Aly Pence doubling in Hull. Harris took the loss. Senecas power past St. Paul Erin Wagner drove in four runs and Maddy Ball scored twice Thursday to key Calvert in a 7-2 win against Norwalk St. Paul. St. Paul scored twice in the top of the second for a 2-1 lead, but Calvert knotted the game in the third on Wagner's second RBI single of the game before taking the lead for good with two runs in the fourth. Mara Mangiola reached on an error and scored on Ball's two-out triple, with Ball scoring moments later on Bria Coleman's single. Calvert added three runs in the sixth, all with two outs. Coleman and Frannie Webb both singled, then scored when the right fielder misplayed a ball hit by Wagner. Wagner then scored on Ashlee Shiley's single. Wagner's first RBI single in the first inning drove in Maddie Schumacher, who led off the inning with a single. Coleman ended 3 for 3 to help Caitlyn Borer get the win. Borer fanned eight. Losing pitcher Marlaina Sowers doubled and singled for the Flyers. Sammy Lippert and Brooke Houck both singled and scored and Mara Lesch singled in a run. Blue Jackets pounce early NEW RIEGEL — New Riegel capitalized on an early Hopewell-Loudon error and Kayleigh Lininger twirled a one-hitter Thursday en route to a 5-1 win. Aubrey Bouillon walked and Lininger singled to open the bottom of the first before both scored when Kristen Coleman reached on an error by the first baseman. Kaitlyn Kirian followed with a single to move Coleman to third before Julia Reinhart singled in Coleman and Jenna Gabel doubled home Kirian. Marianna Tiell added a run in the fifth, belting a double and later scoring on Bria Dailey's sac fly. Kirian, Gabel and Tiell each ended with two hits. The Chieftains got their lone run in the sixth. Chelsey Depinet led off with a triple and later scored on defensive indifference when Brooke Breidenbach got caught in a rundown between first and second. Macey Malagon took the loss for H-L. Big burst fuels Fliers MILAN — Chase Arndt and Murissa Drown both lined three hits, and Clyde erupted for seven runs in the second inning Thursday on the way to beating Edison 10-4. The burst in the second snapped a scoreless tie and put the Fliers in control, helping Hunter Schwochow earn the complete-game win. Arndt singled twice and doubled, and Delaney Gill, Jasmine Minch, Bree Dirlam and Kamdyn Taylor all singled twice. Lindsey Fortuna suffered the loss. Kayla Mancuso, Grace Houser and Hannah Vitaz each singled twice for the Chargers. Bellevue holds back Willard WILLARD — Four Bellevue players had multi-hit days Thursday to lead the Redmen to a 7-5 win against Willard. Riley Mohr spurred the attack with three singles for Bellevue, and Alex Fiske, Kennedy Ryan and Lara Spurlock all had two. Hanna Hill picked up the pitching win.
