Mary Joan Emerine

Mary Joan Emerine, 88, of Fostoria, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at Independence House, Fostoria. She was born May 27, 1930, in Tiffin, to Francis E. and Eleanor P. (White) Bragg. She married James V. Emerine Sept. 2, 1950, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and he died Sept. 17, 2004. Survivors include five sons, Michael J. (Linda) Emerine of Fostoria, Joseph K. (Helen) Emerine of Fostoria, Mark L. (Karen) Emerine of Fostoria, Martin D. (Holly) Emerine of Coldwater and Matthew J. Emerine of Fostoria; two daughters, Joyce (John) Valachovic of Findlay and Amy (Harry) Peters Jr. of Fostoria; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James R. Emerine; a brother, Richard E. (Mary) Bragg; a sister, Sister Joyce Bragg; and in-laws, Shirley Wright and Joanne (Jack) Holderman. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday Feb. 3, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home,133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria. Her Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, with the Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery. A funeral luncheon and gathering will then take place in the parish hall. Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin Church or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
