Discover holiday traditions of president and first lady FREMONT — Tour the historic Hayes Home in the evening and discover the holiday traditions of President Rutherford and first lady Lucy Hayes during a unique new holiday event at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums. Hayes Home Holidays is 5-8 p.m. Dec. 20- 23 in the Hayes Home and museum. Costumed greeters are to welcome guests into the home in the evening, a time the house is not usually open for tours. Visitors can tour the home and learn about the Hayes family's Christmas and New Year's traditions, as well as celebrations for the Hayes' wedding anniversary, which was Dec. 30. Guests can enjoy some wassail, a non-alcoholic drink that was served during the Hayes' day. The home is to be decorated, with some decorations historically accurate as to how the Hayes family would have kept the house at the holidays. This interactive experience includes live music. Also included in the ticket price is viewing of the Hayes Train Special model train display in the museum and access to tour the rest of the museum. Also in the museum, hands-on activities for kids and light refreshments are to be available. Tours are to be offered at 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Guests can come early before their tour and see the Hayes Train Special and participate in activities in the museum. Those who take earlier house tours can see the train display and participate in the museum activities after their tour. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for children ages 6-18 and free for children 5 and younger. Christmas musical slated BUCYRUS — The Bucyrus Little Theatre is to present "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Dec. 14 and 15. Matinees are at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 16. All performances are at 130 Songer Ave., Bucyrus. Cindy Light directs this comedic Christmas musical by Barbara Robinson. The action follows a couple staging a church Christmas pageant and struggling to cast the Herdman kids. The siblings are notorious for their outrageous behavior. Attention tuba, euphonium players: TubaChristmas Dec. 16 Heidelberg University's School of Music & Theatre is getting ready to host its 27th annual TubaChristmas Dec. 16. Area tuba and euphonium players of all ages are invited to come together that day to perform a program of traditional Christmas carols especially arranged by American composer Alec Wilder. Jon Waters, assistant professor of music and director of bands, is to conduct TubaChristmas. For those who would like to perform in TubaChristmas, the schedule calls for registration ($10 fee) and rehearsal at 1 p.m., with the performance at 3 p.m. in Wickham Great Hall. Admission is free for spectators.
