Chevy Blazer catches fire

Rescue personnel work at the scene of a vehicle fire at 40 S. Main St. in Attica Friday afternoon. Safety Officer Bob Bisignano of Attica-Venice-Reed Fire District said the Chevy Blazer is owned by Ed Treft and he just had the vehicle given to him Friday. Treft had parked the vehicle and when he came back about 15 minutes later, there was smoke coming from under the hood, Bisignano said. It is believed the vehicle had previously been sitting for six to seven months and the fire was caused by a mouse that had built a nest in the engine compartment, Bisignano said. He said the vehicle was totaled. It took personnel 15 minutes to put out the fire and they were on scene for an hour completing overhaul, Bisignano said. Nobody was injured, he said. The fire was reported at 12:41 p.m. and Attica-Venice-Reed Fire District, Attica-Venice-Reed EMS District, Bloom Township Fire Department and the Echo unit responded to the fire.
