TPD issues arrest warrant for Tiffin man An arrest warrant was issued for a Tiffin man after he allegedly assaulted a woman Wednesday morning, according to Tiffin Police Department. Sgt. Robert Bour of Tiffin Police Department said a warrant was issued for the arrest of Kareem Jackson, 44, of Tiffin, for domestic violence. Bour said officers responded to 37 Goodell St. at 8:03 a.m. after Jackson allegedly kicked in the door of his former residence, assaulted a woman, took money and left. Bour said he could not disclose how much money was taken Wednesday. The woman was not transported to a hospital, Bour said. — By Jacob Gurney, staff writer Woman killed in accident A woman died in an accident on CR 216 Wednesday morning. Ashley Deardorff, 22, of Bluffton, was driving a 2007 Honda Civic west on CR 216, according to a Hancock County Sheriff's Office release. The vehicle entered a curve, lost control and went off the south side of the road, rolling several times, it states. Deardorff was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, a release states. The accident is under investigation. The accident was reported at 6:07 a.m. and Hancock County Coroner's Office, Washington Township Fire Department, Hanco EMS and Dick's Towing assisted at the scene. Findlay man injured in two-vehicle crash A man was injured in an accident at Crystal Avenue and East Bigelow Avenue in Hancock County Tuesday evening. Curt Laytart, 20, of Findlay, was traveling south in a 2007 Toyota on Crystal Avenue and Jerry Ladd, 78, was driving east on East Bigelow Avenue in a 2014 Honda Civic, according to a Hancock County Sheriff's Office release. Both vehicles came to a stop at a four-way stop sign, it states. Ladd then traveled through the stop sign and struck Laytart in the front right side of his vehicle, the release states. Laytart was transported by Hanco EMS to Blanchard Valley Hospital. The accident is under investigation. The accident was reported at 5:05 p.m. and Washington Township Fire Department, Hanco EMS and Mac and Bob's Towing assisted at the scene. Fostoria man pleads guilty A Fostoria man pleaded guilty to a charge during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff's courtroom. Eduardo Galan Jr., 47, entered a written negotiated plea of guilty to a charge of possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, court records state. The case was referred for a pre-sentence investigation report. Man pleads guilty to misdemeanor A man pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff's courtroom. Kenneth J. Kubeck, 50, pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted violating a protection order, a first-degree misdemeanor, court records state. Kubeck was sentenced to 103 days in Seneca County Jail, with credit for 103 days served. Utah man admits theft A Salt Lake City man pleaded guilty to a theft charge during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff's courtroom. Justin Douglas Chilson, 45, entered a written negotiated plea of guilty to a charge of grand theft, a fourth-degree felony, court records state. The case was referred for a pre-sentence investigation report. Green Energy Ohio fall tour set for this weekend The Doepker residence and the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center, of Tiffin, and the DG AMP solar array in Bowling Green are among the locations in the 15th annual Green Energy Ohio tour Friday and Saturday. The tour, hosted by Green Energy Ohio in collaboration with the American Solar Energy Society, showcases local solar and wind energy project installations and technologies Ohioans are using to reduce monthly energy costs, decrease carbon emissions and take advantage of tax credits and other incentives. "The Green Energy Ohio Tour shows families and businesses real-life examples of what can be done in today's clean energy arena to generate electricity, warm and cool their homes, heat water and reduce monthly utility bills," said Jane Harf, GEO executive director. The Doepker residence, 4253 S. TR 151, is to be open 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. People may see its 8.7-kilowatt photovoltaic array that provides 11.5 megawatts of electricity annually. FELC, 194 St. Francis Ave., is to be open 1-4 p.m. Saturday. Visitors may see its 16-kilowatt photovoltaic array. Visit the website at felctiffin.org. Bowling Green's DG AMP solar array, 16520 Carter Road, Bowling Green, is to be open 4-6 p.m. Friday and 1-4 p.m. Saturday. At 20 megawatts, the array is the largest installation of solar PV in Ohio. The solar array consists of 85,680 335-watt panels and generates enough electricity for about 3,100 average homes. The free tour features more than 60 sites statewide open Friday through Sunday.
