Betty A. Kizer

Betty A. Kizer, 70, of Tiffin, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at Toledo Hospital. Betty was born April 4, 1946, in Fremont, to the late John E. and Mae (Blackwell) Ziegler. She married Ralph E. Kizer April 3, 1969, in Old Fort, and he survives. Additional survivors include three sons, Paul (Nicole Goldin) Kizer of Summerville, South Carolina, Joseph (Beth) Kizer of Fremont, and David Kizer of Bluffton, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Jacob, Sarah, Abigail, Zoe and Alec; and her dog, Buddy. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John E. Ziegler Jr. Betty graduated from Old Fort High School before attending Bowling Green State University where she earned her bachelors and masters degrees. She then worked as an English teacher at Columbian High School. Betty was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and Seneca County Master Gardeners. She enjoyed spending time on the family farm, growing rhubarb, knitting, crocheting, and reading. Most of all, though, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. A memorial service for Betty will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory, Tiffin, with the Rev. Kurt Schaller Blaufuss officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. There will be no burial at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Seneca County Master Gardeners.
