Man placed on probation An Attica man was sentenced to probation during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley's courtroom Tuesday morning. Jacob R. Render, 21, waived indictment and proceeded with a bill of information. He pleaded guilty to sexual imposition, a third-degree misdemeanor. Kelbley placed him on one year of non-reporting probation. Two indicted Two women were indicted by a Seneca County grand jury. Kristina L. Raines, 33, of Tiffin, was charged with theft, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly taking $1,274.47 from Great Clips, according to her indictment. Raines also was charged with forgery, a fifth-degree felony. Tamara L. McCarley, 45, was charged with escape, a third-degree felony, court records state. Board approves grants for two firms Two downtown businesses were approved by the Architectural Board of Review for Facade Enhancement Grant funds Tuesday. According to a Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp. release, the two businesses were awarded about $5,337, for a total downtown reinvestment of $10,675. The Elks Lodge, 106 E. Perry St., is to replace third-floor windows to match the second floor and repair stucco. This is the third-consecutive year representatives of the building have received facade program funds. Phat Cakes, 45 S. Washington St., also is to replace windows, roof, gutter and repair shingles. The release states the facade program has about $40,000 of the $100,000 initially allocated by the city for the program. Board sets meeting NEW RIGEL — New Riegel Board of Education meeting has been rescheduled to 4:30 p.m. March 13. Music festival at Heidelberg North Central District of the Ohio Music Teachers Association is to present a music (ribbon) festival Sunday in Brenneman Music Hall at Heidelberg University. Members and non-members are to present 74 students in a non-competitive program beginning at 1 p.m. Students are to play for a judge who is to give them a critique on their playing. They also are to receive a ribbon for each year of entry in the festival. This is the 46th year for these festivals to take place in Tiffin. The public may attend. A special rosette is to be given to Elyse Lortz who has played violin 10 years in these festivals. Ryan Alvarado, Emily Anstead and Morgan Johnson have each played piano for 11 years and also are to receive a special ribbon. Lucia Unrau is professor of music and music deparment chair at Bluffton University where she also serves as the communication and fine arts department chair. She and Stephanie Titus are to serve as adjudicators for this event. Titus is finishing requirements for a doctorate degree at Bowling Green State University. Teachers from Tiffin include Kathie Bach, Jami Daniel, Amy Fretz, Sister Marietta Kill, Cynthia Ramsdell and Jody Strong. Other area teachers represented include: Carlynn Framstead and Cassandra Byrant, both of Fremont, Lynette Weirich and Melanie Jo Weasner, both from Clyde, Darcianne C. Porter of Sycamore and Donella Wilt from Woodville. Students to perform at 1 p.m. include: Mia Brady, Marie Brodman, Emily Dell, Grace Damron, Gracie Goshe, Marlie Goshe, Carina Hart, Dinah Hay, Audrey Knepper, Cole Newlove, Liam Pursell, Olivia Raubenolt, Logan Robinson, Shannon Schneider, Mitchell Stephey, Jack Taylor, Kailah Toon, Emily Willman and Isaac Woessner.
