Heidelberg enters new partnership for dining service

Heidelberg University has entered into a contract with Parkhurst Dining to manage the university's food service and catering operations. Parkhurst is a family-operated company and a member of the Eat'n Park Hospitality Group, headquartered in Pittsburgh. Parkhurst has received awards for its dining service management, commitment to quality, locally sourced ingredients and a made-from-scratch approach to food preparation. "Embracing scratch-cooking methods and flexible meal plan options improves the quality of life for students on our campus," Heidelberg President Rob Huntington said. "Parkhurst is eager to breathe new life into dining and catering at Heidelberg and we look forward to collaborating with them. We welcome them to the Heidelberg family as we harvest a better eating plan together." Parkhurst chefs are to prepare scratch-made foods for breakfast, lunch, dinner and on-the-go, as well as provide catering services for meetings and special events. Students are able to select from a mix of nutritionally balanced entrees prepared with grilled vegetables, lean proteins and healthy grains. They also are to be introduced to multicultural foods prepared with authentic ingredients. There are to be fresh vegan entrees along with an extensive salad bar featuring homemade soups. Parkhurst also contributed to upgrade and renovate the university's dining hall and eateries. Parkhurst is to begin June 1.
