Beatrice G. Schmitz

Beatrice G. Schmitz, 84, of Fostoria, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at her home. She was born Sept. 5, 1932, in North Auburn, to George W. and Celesta F. (Pifher) Wechter. She married Calvin R. Schmitz Oct. 15, 1955, in North Auburn, and he died Feb. 22, 2013. Surviving are six children, Michael C. Schmitz, Thomas R. Schmitz, Julie (Bob) Derck, Nancy Allison and Jeffrey A. Schmitz, all of Fostoria, and Douglas T. (Dorene) Schmitz of Northwood; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; and three sisters, Janice Stump of New Washington, Helen Heydinger of North Auburn and Joan Zellner of Florida. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Catherine Pauly, Margaret Gosche and Annamae Mason; and five brothers, Jerome, George, Alfred, Norman and Louis Wechter. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Her Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, with the Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery, Fostoria, and a luncheon will then be served in the parish hall. Memorials are suggested to Community Hospice Care, Tiffin, or St. Wendelin Parish.
