Nov. 12 target for opening of Chipotle

Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz announced Tuesday that Chipotle is expected to open its Tiffin location next month. Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp. Development Coordinator Bryce Riggs said Nov. 12 is the target opening date, but it was not guaranteed. "Things can change," he said. "But, that date was within the time frame they are expecting." Riggs said SIEDC was working with the developer to get the restaurant quickly. Chipotle is to be part of a three-store shopping center located at 596 W. Market St., the former site of First Merit Bank. He said SIEDC and Diverse Development, the developer of Chipotle and of the shopping center, are working to fill the other two stores and he said announcements could be made soon. Riggs said he was unsure how many jobs were to be available at Chipotle, but he said the whole facility was expected to create 40-70 jobs. He said Chipotle is hiring and those interested in applying can visit careers.chipotle.com. Riggs said restaurant hours are expected to be 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily. He said he visited the restaurant about two weeks ago to check progress. "The exterior and interior construction is coming to a close," Riggs said. "It should hopefully be ready by (Nov. 12)." He said the new restaurant was great for the city. "We're excited for the momentum Tiffin is continuing to see," Riggs said. "It's continuing to make Tiffin a great place to live, work and play."
