Stephen John 'Steve' 'Wolfie' Swing

Stephen John “Steve” “Wolfie” Swing, 65, of Alvada, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 30, 2016, in ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital. He was born Sept. 27, 1950, to John C. and Dolores M. (Karch) Swing. March 23, 1993, he married Brenda Medley. Survivors include his wife, Brenda of Alvada; daughter, Breanna Medley of Alvada; two brothers, Robert (Diane) Swing of Findlay, and Daniel Swing of Alvada; and three grandchildren, Alexis, Cayden and Michaela. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Joyce Ann Swing. Steve graduated in 1968 from New Riegel High School. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. He was a sniper in the 101st Airborne Division during Vietnam, earning the Purple Heart. He then served four years in Army Reserves. Steve was a supervisor for Findlay Industries for 25 years. Growing up, Steve was an altar boy and served at the convent in New Riegel. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family all over the United States. His funeral will begin at noon Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, New Riegel. Friends may visit with the family 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
