Patricia A. Enders

Patricia A. Enders, 83, of Attica, slipped quietly into her eternal life the afternoon of June 30, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 25, 1932, in Little York, Eden Township, Wyandot County, to Thomas Walter and Vivian C. (Ulrich) Logan. She married the late Herbert Burwell in 1951, and she later married Edwin E. Enders Jan. 28, 1978, and he survives in Attica. Pat is also survived by two sisters, Nancy (Jerry) Wantz of Dayton and Barbara Patterson of Fostoria; her four children, Thomas (Mary) Burwell of Tiffin, Mark Burwell of Port Clinton, Ann (Mike) Roberts of Batavia and Michael (Mindy) Burwell of Powell; and three stepchildren, Gerald (Daneen) Enders of Dallas, Texas, Gina (Lane) Boespflug of Hanford, California, and Edwin Enders Jr. of Attica. She leaves behind five grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, one great-grandson, 13 stepgreat-grandchildren and 12 stepgreat-great-grand-children; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, Thomas Enders; and a stepgreat-grandson, David Kilen. Pat was a lifelong student and educator. She and her husband Ed were members of Republic High School Class of 1950. Pat went on to receive bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bowling Green State University. She began her teaching career at Central Elementary School in Willard, teaching there for eight years. She then taught at Attica Elementary for 24 years. During that time, she taught during the summer at Willard Migrant School. Pat was an adjunct instructor at Tiffin University. She never stopped learning or inspiring the people around her to learn. A teacher affects eternity; one never can tell where her influence stops. Pat was a Martha Holden Jennings Foundation scholar. The Jennings Foundation recognizes only Ohio’s most effective educators with this award. Her community involvement was well-based in the Attica area, as witnessed by her commitment to organizations such as Attica American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Attica Food Pantry, Attica Women’s Literary Guild, Attica Recreational Organization (which built the pool in Myers Park), Shappo Chapter No. 50 OES Attica, Seneca East Library Board, Seneca East Library Book Club and Seneca Co. Retired Teachers’ Association. She also worked as a volunteer for the board of elections as a poll worker. Pat was a member of First Baptist Church in Attica, serving not only as a teacher but also as the church’s secretary. Her funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with Pastor Bob Adelsperger officiating. Burial will follow in Attica-Venice Cemetery in Attica. Friends and former students may pay their respects 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday July 5, 2016, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home.
