Louise Rose Zirger

Louise Rose Zirger, 98, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, June 18, 2016, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin. She was born Oct. 15, 1917, in Carey, to Aloyouss P. and Marie (Pflueger) Ruffing. She married Richard Zirger June 19, 1939, at St. Mary Catholic Church, and he preceded her in death Jan. 24, 1982. Survivors include her three sons, Frederick (Kay) Zirger of Tiffin, Karl (Barbara) Zirger of Plainfield, New Jersey, and Philip (Sheri) Zirger of Tiffin; four daughters, Marie Vera of Tiffin, Nina (Don) Howard of Adrian, Michigan, Jane (Steve) Hoover of Tiffin and Ellen (Mike) Millott of Kalida; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Christine Zirger; son, Martin Zirger; three sisters, Esther Ferguson, Ruth Calhoon and Mary Ruffing; son-in-law, Joe Vera; and four grandchildren. Louise graduated in 1935, as valedictorian, from Carey High School, attended Tiffin University and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. She worked at Tiffin Scenic Studios, where she met her husband, Richard, and in 1960, they started Mohawk Nursery. Her Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin. Friends may visit with the family 8:45-9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church, prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin, is assisting the family.
