Clyde-GS hires new treasurer

CLYDE – After several interviews for a new treasurer, Clyde-Green Springs School District board of education members hired Meghan Rohde Monday evening. Rohde lives in Castalia and has been an internal auditor at PNC Bank. She begins her new job May 16. Outgoing treasurer Joyce Dupont is to become treasurer for the Norwalk City School District. Superintendent Dave Stubblebine said it was unreal to expect students to only need one Chromebook throughout their school years. The district is issuing them to students in fifth grade and again in ninth grade. Board members approved the purchase of 400 Chromebooks, 400 licenses and 400 service agreements from CDW-G of Vernon Hill, Illinois, for $92,776. Principal Joe Webb said the academic awards ceremony is May 3 at the high school. Principal Jackie Davis announced that Clyde Elementary School is scheduled to host its Mothers’ Day Tea and Donuts for Dad events soon. Maintenance Director Randy Hawk reported a problem with water pooling at McPherson Middle School. Plans are being made to lay tile to connect into a catch basin for better drainage. Transportation Director Dan Shafer said 15 buses have received certifications for next year. He also said work is about to begin on the communication tower at the middle school. Digging is to start May 2-3, followed by concrete, rebars laid, then cement is to be poured May 6. Board member Denise Hamrick said Safety Village runs June 6-17 and June 20-July 1. The board entered into executive session to discuss employment of a public employee. In other matters, the board: Approved the financial audit for fiscal year 2015. Results are posted on the school’s website and the state auditor’s website. Re-appointed Nancy Hanger to the Clyde Public Library Board for a seven-year term beginning July 1. Approved a two-year contract for a Medicaid cost report agreed upon procedure with Julian & Grube Inc. Approved a contract with Central Ohio Medical Review LLC to review services and related referrals for students at a cost of $5,885. Authorized the treasurer to file a counter-complaint with Sandusky County Board of Revision on a commercial property valuation decrease of $4,343,800. Awarded the contract for two buses to Rush Bus Centers of Findlay for $175,224. Appointed Boenning & Scattergood Inc. of Columbus as its underwriter for certificates for obligation for the purpose of refunding limited tax general obligations school improvement bonds issued in 2008. Authorized the treasurer to use blanket and super blanket purchase orders up to, but not in excess, 95 percent of the prior fiscal year expenditures for any budget account. Approved staff personnel action. Approved one non-certificated, extra-duty job to Justin Miracle as assistant junior varsity softball coach. Approved Chas Lang from a Class II to Class IV effective for 2015-16 after discovering additional credit hours from when he was hired originally. Approved one-year limited contracts for certificated staff for the 2016-17 year. Approved inter-district open enrollment for next year. Approved intra-district open enrollment for next year. Approved the 2015-16 Seneca County interagency agreement represented by North Central Ohio Education Service Center, Seneca County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Seneca County Help Me Grow, Teaching Mentoring Communities Migrant Seasonal Head Start, WSOS Head Start and Early Head Start and the school district. Approved a memorandum of understanding between the school district and WSOS Community Action Commission Inc. for the Head Start program. Approved an agreement to participate in Excess Costs of Satellite Programs with Vanguard-Sentinel Career and Technology Centers for the agricultural education program for 2016-17 school year. Approved purchase of the new Spanish curriculum Realidades-7 year subscription from Pearson for $34,363.06. Accepted gifts and donations. Employed Dupont as interim treasurer effective May 2-15 and then as a consultant on an as-needed basis for $41.46 per hour with no benefits. Authorized the board president to negotiate terms and conditions of Rohde’s contract. The board meets at 6 p.m. May 23.
