PatchWorks House profiled

A local nonprofit is featured as one of the businesses in the Ohio Business Profile program in December. Barbara Flood, executive director of PatchWorks House, said it was contacted to be featured this month, as the theme is “Family.” Flood said the businesses that had been chosen where either owned and operated by families or those that offer support to families. “Being featured is a nice surprise and a welcoming opportunity for this organization,” Flood said. Flood said it is a great chance to share information about the agency. “We don’t always have a lot of opportunities for PR,” she said. “Any chance we can reach families in need of the services we offer or for those to refer families to us or another agency is key.” PatchWorks House provides services to families who have been affected by conflicts caused by divorce or separation of never-married parents; parenting time and custody disputes; domestic and family violence, child abuse and other related crisis or trauma. The goal of the organization is to assist families in carrying out plans for safe and cooperative parenting and family interaction through supervised exchange and visitation, parenting coordination, mediation and parenting education. Begun 21 years ago, PatchWorks House works closely with courts, law enforcement, Child Protective Services and other family service agencies. Since then, there have been other satellite sites opened in neighboring communities. According to a release, the Ohio Business Profile program was begun in June 2011 to help raise awareness about companies registered and doing business in Ohio that are creating interesting products, offering outstanding service, contributing to their communities and employing Ohioans in the process.
