TU Dragon’s Den Players host next production Tiffin University’s Dragon’s Den Players are to present “The Wayside Motor Inn” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. March 22 in Osceola Theatre located inside the Gillmor Student Center. Tickets are $4 each and are to be available at the door. The play is intended for mature audiences. Republic resident featured in musical FINDLAY – Ben Frankart of Republic performed in The University of Findlay’s musical production of “Xanadu.” ONU dean’s list Ohio Northern University has announced local students have been named to the 2014 fall semester dean’s list, including Ryan Depinet, Paige Krupp and Kelly Racette, all of Tiffin; Brandyn Reinhart of Alvada; and Kassandra Shaver of Fostoria. Ashland Delta Zeta ASHLAND – Paige Correll of Tiffin and Marissa Willman of Attica have been named members of Delta Zeta at Ashland University. Tiffin resident to present at Ashland ASHLAND – Olivia Perna of Tiffin is to present at the 2015 Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium at Ashland University. Music director in demand Brad Reese, music department director at Tiffin University, has been in demand as a guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator and presenter throughout the spring 2015 semester. In January he conducted the Louisville Chamber Choir, served as a presenter for the Ohio Music Education Association’s Annual State Conference in February, and is to serve as guest conductor for the Putnam County Honors Choir in March. Heidelberg honors four professors Heidelberg University presented the 2014-15 Faculty Awards to four professors for teaching, research, classroom innovation and dedication to the humanities. The faculty members receiving awards were Pam Faber, Kristen Williams, David Hogan and Courtney DeMayo. ‘Berg speech team strong at nationals Heidelberg University’s speech team had a great showing at the 2015 Pi Kappa Delta National Forensics Tournament at Ohio University. Senior Hannah Long-Higgins earned a superior in broadcast journalism and was ranked sixth in the nation; senior Ashley Racicot earned an excellent in rhetorical criticism, ranking her seventh in the nation; sophomore Colin Higgins, and Long-Higgins, received an excellent ranking in dramatic duo interpretation. TU professor edits textbook Tiffin University professor of philosophy and China program coordinator Zhaolu Lu has edited the textbook “Practical Moral Problems: An Introduction To Ethics,” published by Linus Publications. Heidelberg senior earns scholarship Heidelberg University senior Victoria Amburgey of Valley City has received the Berg-Falcon Scholarship and a graduate assistantship, which is to allow her pursue her master’s degree in accounting from Bowling Green State University. ‘Berg students to participate in service efforts Heidelberg University students are traveling during spring break. Five groups are completing a week of community service in Kentucky, Wisconsin, Mississippi, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. Local students who are participating in Heidelberg’s Alternative Spring Break trip are Jennifer Schock, Austin Eaton, Johanna Becker and Jacquelyn Becker of Tiffin; and Christine Reinhart of New Riegel. Sen. Brown seeking nominations for military academies WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, is encouraging Ohioans to seek nomination from his office to U.S. military service academies for 2016 admission. Brown nominates 10 students for each service academy requiring congressional recommendations such as U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the Merchant Marine Academy. Brown’s office is to begin accepting applications Aug. 1. Interested students who meet eligibility requirements should send their completed applications packet to Brown’s Cleveland office no later than Sept. 23.
