2 Tiffin police officers cited in separate crashes

Two Tiffin Police Department officers were cited after being involved in separate crashes while on duty this week. According to a police department report, Eric D. Aller, 32, of Tiffin, was cited with unattended vehicle, duty to stop engine after an accident on Circular Street Wednesday afternoon. It states he was parking a 2012 Dodge Charger owned by the police department on Circular Street. Aller allegedly failed to put the car in park and stop the engine. He exited the vehicle and started walking away, and the vehicle started moving forward, striking a parked vehicle, the report states. The cruiser had a small dent in the front passenger door, and the parked vehicle had white paint transferred onto its driver’s side rear bumper, it states. Officer Michael Moore, 28, of Tiffin, was cited with failure to yield due to an accident at Circular and Coe streets Monday night. Chief Fred Stevens said Moore slipped through a stop sign due to ice while in a 2014 Ford Explorer cruiser. No one was injured in the collision, but both vehicles were damaged. Stevens said the cruiser Moore was driving should be fixed by Friday. “They’re working on it now,” he said Wednesday. Stevens said Aller and Moore each received a counseling notice, per the care and use of city property policy, and citations.
