Tiffin man sentenced

A Tiffin man was given a 54-month prison sentence last week after he pleaded guilty to charges stemming from two separate cases. Matthew A. Hess, 37, was given the sentence by Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley after he pleaded guilty to charges of burglary, a third-degree felony, receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, and aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony, according to court documents. Hess had trespassed into a Water Street residence in February that caught fire three days earlier and also was found to be in possession of two stolen TVs, according to his indictment. In July, Hess sold or offered to sell Oxycodone, according to a bill of information filed last week. Hess also was ordered last week by Kelbley to pay restitution of $171 to the Seneca County Drug Task Force METRICH Enforcement Unit, and a six-month license suspension was imposed, according to court documents.
