Gene A. Walter

Gene Allan Walter, 72 , Carey, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at his residence. He was born Nov. 6, 1942, in Hancock County, to Paul Edwin and Mary Kathryn (Pennington) Walter. He married Kathleen Ann Rife April 9, 1961, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, and she survives in Carey. He also is survived by three children, Jeffery A. (Sheri Opper) Walter and Jennifer A. (Louis) Brodman, both of Carey, and Jerrold L. (Cathy) Walter of Upper Sandusky; six siblings, Arlene K. (F. Joe) Bennett, Ted E. (Rosemary) Walter and Sharon S. Nuzum, all of Findlay, Vern E. Walter of Honolulu, Hawaii, and twin sisters, Marlene A. Young of Bourbonnais, Illinois, and Darlene A. Walter of Findlay; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Doris Welma Heuberger Walter; daughter, Julia Lynn Walter; and a brother, John W. Walter. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Evangelical Lutheran, Carey, with the Rev. William Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey.
