Former Wyandot probation officer indicted

A former Wyandot County probation officer has been indicted on several counts of sexual battery and tampering with evidence for alleged acts that occurred earlier this year. According to documents from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Jason Barth, 42, who formerly served as chief probation officer and bailiff for Wyandot County Common Pleas Court, has been charged with six counts of sexual battery and two counts of tampering with evidence, both third-degree felonies. According to his indictment, between Jan. 4 and Feb. 10, Barth allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a woman and knowingly coerced her to submit by any means that would have prevented resistance by a person of ordinary resolution, according to his indictment. Barth’s indictment also states the sexual conduct occurred when he had supervisory or disciplinary authority over the woman. Feb. 10, Barth then allegedly altered, destroyed, concealed or removed evidence, his indictment states. Jill Del Greco, public information officer for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, said Monday afternoon details surrounding Barth’s indictment were not available. She said she was unsure where the alleged acts took place and when Barth had been served the eight-count indictment. A spokeswoman from Wyandot County Clerk of Courts said Monday Barth’s case had not yet been filed in court.
