Ismael B. Bernal

Ismael B. Bernal, 90, of San Antonio, Texas, and formerly Fostoria, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Mission Trail Baptist Hospital, San Antonio. He was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Gonzales, Texas, to Miquel and Soledad (Barron) Bernal. He married Maria Carmona Dec. 2, 1942, in Mexico, and she survives in San Antonio. Also surviving are 11 children, Marvin (Yolanda) Bernal of Fostoria, Mike (Maria) Bernal of San Antonio, Aurora Robinson, Bob Bernal and Alice (Butch) Gonzales, all of Fostoria, Mario (Trini) Bernal of Rosenburg, Texas, Raul (Rachel) Bernal and Estela Bernal, both of San Antonio, Sylvia (Abel) Leal Jr. and John Bernal, both of Fostoria, and Rosalinda (Raymond) Valdez of San Antonio; a brother, Daniel Bernal Sr. of Fostoria; 28 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three half sisters, Teresa Cortez and Concha Mendoza, both of Findlay, and Cheva Vela of Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joe Bernal Sr.; two daughters, Consuelo Bernal and Consuelo Bernal; a grandson; and son-in-law, Lloyd Robinson. His memorial Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, with the Rev. Nicholas Weibl presiding.
