Click wins Ohio House race

Gary Click tallied 5,385 total votes to win the Republican primary election for the 88th District seat in the Ohio House of Representatives over Shayne Thomas with 4,702 votes and Ed Ollom with 3,057 votes. Vote counts are unofficial. Click received 2,764 votes in Seneca County and 2,621 votes in Sandusky County. Thomas received 2,891 votes in Seneca County and 1,811 votes in Sandusky County Ollom received 1,311 votes in Seneca County and 1,746 in Sandusky County. Click said he didn’t take for granted that he would win. “I was getting positive feedback all along the way,” he said. “But as you’re counting down the minutes and the hours you wonder a little bit.” He said Thomas and Ollom both ran good campaigns. “I commend the strong effort and their wish to serve the public,” he said. Thomas said he hopes the closeness of the races Tuesday encourages people to vote. He said he plans to continue to focus on the county. “My focus has really been on county business since the middle of March,” he said. “And that’s where it belongs.” He congratulated both of his opponents for working hard on their campaigns. “That’s very admirable,” he said. Ollom said he was disappointed, but grateful for everyone who supported him. “I will be supporting Chris Leibold in the fall,” he said. “Better a good Democrat than a bad Republican.” Unopposed Democrat Chris Leibold received 2,360 votes in Seneca County. Click and Leibold face each other in the Nov. 3 general election.
