By Jill GoscheOnline Editorjgosche@advertiser-tribune.comAn additional 180 ballots were added to Seneca County's Primary Election results Monday evening.Seneca County Board of Elections met for the official canvas Monday and accepted 180 of 339 provisional and absentee ballots.Board members considered provisional ballots and additional ballots that had come in since April 28 – ballots had to be postmarked April 27 – and received by May 8.Seneca County Board of Elections received 171 provisional ballots and 168 absentee ballots, according to information from the board of elections.Of the 171 provisional ballots, 115 were accepted and 56 were rejected for reasons such as demanding to vote on election day and no ballots in the envelope. The 115 provisional ballots that were accepted included people who had moved from other counties, had registered and did not vote, who had made an in-county move and others.Of the 168 absentee ballots, 65 were accepted and 103 were rejected for reasons such as late or no postmark. The 65 absentee ballots that were accepted were received by mail with a good postmark on time, according to the board of elections. In other business, the board of elections learned about Seneca County being a pilot for a new online campaign finance system. It is one of seven counties statewide to start the program.
