Workplace/Job Title/How long? Rustic Flair & Brush studio; Flair 37, LLC. Owner. The studio opened May 2019What do you do each day? No two days are ever the same! As a "solo-preneur" I find myself wearing many hats as many small business owners do! Typically, I am creating projects and planning/promoting events (whether that be for a private or fundraising event). For workshop events, I prep the materials behind the scene which means creating custom designs for each customer, preparing stencils and cutting wood before the workshop takes place.Why choose the job? After 16 years on the road (in sales), I wanted a change. I wanted to be more available for my family, share my creative skills locally and be more connected to our community. After hosting a couple fundraiser events for local schools/organizations (while still working full time), I saw the impact in which I could help locally and I was ready to take a leap of faith in 2019. Since opening the studio, I have hosted birthday parties (from ages 6-70), bachelorette parties, kids workshops, girls' night out, private events, company holiday parties, company holiday parties, and fundraisers. It fulfills my soul of teaching and being creative.Why do you love it? My son (10) asked me today if I could have any job what would it be? I told him, "Having a studio and being a Mom." I LOVE (I mean really LOVE) having the studio space. I love being able to manage my own schedule, balance events, meet my family's needs, fill my creative passion and be involved in our community to give back. There's something magical about the studio where the creativity just seems to flow - it's my happy place and I love sharing it with others!What is your favorite part? There is something special about bringing people together for a DIY workshop and watching them create something they are truly proud of! I love teaching the workshops and meeting new people. I have met SO many wonderful local people in the last 10 months. (Far more than in the first 17 years that I have lived in Tiffin). I love that I can do the prep work and let them do the fun part of the project while hanging out.What do you do in your spare time? All my kids' activities! ...And if I can find time, I'll be on a tennis court or working on Snapliments (a rewards & motivation program). I'm also involved with local organizations (SCYP, SMYL, TOWN, Tiffin City's 13 Year Program, Sentinenal Business Advisory, Vintage Market Committee, Project Together Ohio and volunteering at Calvert).
