Kiwanis Club of Tiffin Dr. Sarah Sewell was the featured speaker at the June 11 Zoom meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Tiffin. Dr. Sewell is a board certified pediatrician with Mercy Health — Tiffin Hospital. A native of Tiffin and graduate of Calvert High School, she returned to Tiffin to practice nearly two years ago. Her office is located on West Market Street across the street from O'Reilly Auto Parts and just down the street from Rite Aid and Fifth Third Bank. She was excited to be able to return to her home town. Dr. Sewell addressed the recent COVID-19 pandemic in explaining that MyChart, virtual visits, telephone visits and FaceTime have taken the place of some office visits due to the pandemic. While she prefers to see patients face-to-face, especially under certain circumstances, she sees these types of visits becoming more common in the future. One issue during the pandemic has been a decrease in well child visits. When visiting her office, patients are encouraged to wear masks, check in from their vehicle and use hand sanitizers when entering and leaving. Chairs are taped off for social distancing, however, most patients go directly to the exam room rather than staying in the waiting room. Dr. Sewell serves on a number of committees and is in the role of pediatric director for Mercy Health — Tiffin Hospital. The meeting opened with Josh Groban's version of "God Bless America," from the 2008 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Rich Traunero provided the prayer. Twenty were in attendance. Club president Kristi Krintzline thanked Nicole Miller for volunteering to chair this year's Seneca County Fair harness racing program committee. Krintzline also said that the club is working with Anne Gase and Beth Schweitzer in the planning of a Kiwanis fundraiser to benefit the Gase Family Literacy Fund later this year. Gene Chintala reported that there was no word yet as to whether there will be flea markets at the fairgrounds this year, one of which would include the Kiwanis Garage Sale. Becky Bohn celebrated her birthday. Wedding anniversaries were recognized for Rick & Donna Dorsch, Roger & Sue Murray, Richard & Linda Ellinger, Melanie & Joe Frederick and Roy & Barbara Zinn.
