Circle K planning new $4.1 million facility

Circle K announced Monday it is closing on the purchase of property at US 224 and SR 18 where it plans to build a new full-service gas station and convenience store, according to a news release from Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership. The project is estimated to cost $4,112,000. Circle K Stores Inc. is an international chain of convenience stores, owned by the Canadian multinational Alimentation Couche-Tard since 2003. As of February, the release said Circle K has 9,799 stores in North America — primarily in the United States and Canada — and more than 5,000 additional stores worldwide. The release said Circle K strives to be a good corporate citizen with charitable support targeted at youth and health. Additionally, the release said Circle K has been a sponsor of the Children's Miracle Network and March of Dimes since 1995, which support and improve health care for millions of young people. In November 2011, the release said Circle K was awarded the National Philanthropy Corporate Leader Award by The Association of Fundraising Professionals North Central Ohio Chapter. The award was presented to Circle K for its outstanding service to the community of Akron and the surrounding areas. "We are living in unprecedented and challenging times, and we are doing everything we can to assist our existing business community through the coronavirus," said Mayor Aaron Montz in the release. "I welcome Circle K's announcement, and we wish them all the best as they continue to grow here."
