TPC Food Service buys old GE, Atlas building, plans to expand business

TPC Food Service announced it has purchased the unoccupied manufacturing facility at 401 Wall St. and will be moving to the new location and expanding its operations.TPC Food Service expects to move their newly-acquired, Michigan-based cheese producer into the facility, a release from Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership states.TPC has 90 employees in Tiffin and expects to hire about 10 more employees locally for the new operation, the release states.TPC purchased the property for $700,000 and plan to update the building for use as a production facility and distribution center for TPC Cheese, their renamed cheese grinding and packaging operation, the release states. The company TPC acquired was known as Kuster's of Camden, Michigan, and TPC purchased it for $288,000 in 2019, the release states.The facility, originally built in 1946 as the home of General Electric in Tiffin, was most recently the home of Atlas Industries, which closed its doors in 2019."When this building became available, we took the opportunity to not just grow TPC, but to bring TPC Cheese to Tiffin, which was always our intention," Tom Maiberger, president and CEO of TPC Food Service, said in the release. "We're excited to start a new chapter for TPC in Seneca County."Established in 1952, TPC Food Service is a distributor of food, paper and janitorial products. Now in its fourth generation, TPC has been a family-owned company since its inception, and today has accounts throughout Ohio as well as Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania, the release states, according to the release.Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz also commented in the release, saying "In these tough economic times, it is very encouraging to see the strength and resiliency of our community. TPC is a great example of that and is growing and succeeding here. "We applaud their investment."
