Tiffin City Council approved an ordinance to establish a DORA

With a vote of 7-0, Tiffin City Council approved an ordinance to establish a DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) in downtown Tiffin Monday night during a special meeting of council.The proposed boundary is outlined in solid red lines (pictured) and encompasses an area of approximately 48.9-acres.The proposed boundary extends between 91 N. Washington Street and 16 Sycamore Street in the north/south direction and extends between the Sandusky River and Rock Creek in the east/west direction.The DORA is to operate between 11 a.m.-11 p.m., daily. The DORA application will take place starting July 1 through Dec. 31, in which time council will be able to re-evaluate the proposal and consider to resubmit the application.The ordinance allows patrons of liquor permitted establishments within the DORA boundary to possess a specially marked open container within the designated area will take effect in July. Tiffin joins 27 other communities in the state of Ohio to implement a DORA. DORA beverages must be purchased from a participating liquor licensed establishment within the designated district; maps are to be distributed to participating vendors and signage is to be posted at the boundaries of the DORA area.
