Toledo Molding and Die plant in Tiffin to see changes

Regional automotive air and fluid management system supplier Toledo Molding & Die, which has a plant on North Maule Road in Tiffin, is set to undergo some changes under the purview of parent company Grammer AG. Kevin Wilson, UAW Chairman of the Bargaining Committee at the Tiffin plant, said as of the beginning of the year, Grammer AG owns all of the Toledo Molding & Die plants and the name will be changed to Grammer America. The company owns plants in Bowling Green, Delphos, operates facilities in other states and has a home office in Toledo, in addition to the Tiffin plant. "Grammer AG makes assembly for different types of seating," Wilson said. "This includes specialty replacement auto seats, seats for tractors, airplanes, bulldozers and semis." Wilson said Grammer AG means to repurpose the Delphos plant for the assembly of these specialty seats. As a result, the Tiffin plant will specialize in injection molding and blow molding, and will receive some machine presses that are currently located in the Delphos plant. "We actually sent those presses to Delphos some time ago, and now we're getting them back here in Tiffin," Wilson said. Along with the new presses coming to Tiffin, the jobs involved in operating them will come to the Tiffin plant as well, Wilson said. "They'll be hiring for those jobs," he said. Considering the Tiffin plant was completely shut down for nearly two and a half months due to the COVID-19 outbreak, as many manufacturing facilities were, these new jobs are sure to bolster Grammer America's presence in Tiffin.
