Man dies in Liberty Township accident

A Michigan man died in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of SR 635 and CR 592 Friday at approximately 8:20 p.m. Riccardo Thompson, of Detroit, was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu northbound on SR 635, a release from the Norwalk post of State Highway Patrol states. Emily Stall, of Findlay, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on CR 592, failed to stop at the stop sign and struck Thompson's vehicle in the left front, according to the release. Both vehicles then went off the road at the northeast side of the intersection into a cornfield, the release states. Thompson was transported from the scene by the Echo unit to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, the release states. Thompson had been wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, it states. Stall and a front seat passenger in her vehicle, Clarence Durliat, both sustained minor injuries in the crash and were released from the scene, the release states. Stall and Durliat were both wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, it states. Alcohol and/or drug use are not considered to be a factor in the crash, according to the release. Bascom Joint Fire District, Reinhart Auto Body and D&D Total Repair assisted at the scene.
