Dr. Felton retiring due to illness

Dr. James Felton, who served Tiffin as a physician for more than 40 years, has announced that Dr. Mark Akers and nurse practitioner Noel Zimmerman have taken over care of his patients beginning Monday. "As a result of a sudden onset of illness that hospitalized me for several weeks this past July and into August, I am unable to attend to you as your physician for the foreseeable future," Felton said in a letter to his patients provided by Akers' office Monday. Effective immediately, the letter said Felton would no longer be providing medical services. "The decision to step back from active practice of medicine was not easy," Felton said in the letter. "Many of you have been patients since I opened my practice in Tiffin 40+ years ago. I can't begin to thank you for your loyalty and friendship. I have received endless satisfaction and joy from caring for you and your families over the years." Akers and Zimmerman will continue to offer services at Felton's former office, 27 St Lawrence Dr., Suite 105. "I have known Dr. Akers personally and professionally for many years and Ms. Zimmerman is a board certified nurse-practitioner specialist with over eight years' diverse experience," Felton wrote. "I believe you will be in good hands in their care." Patients can find information about obtaining medical records by calling (419) 447-7995. Unless otherwise requested, medical records are to remain in the custody of Akers.
