Pro-life support

Driving through Tiffin and Seneca County I have noticed many yard signs with various graphics urging an end to abortion; these are often accompanied by a sign touting one particular party and one specific presidential candidate. While I personally am not a member of that party nor care in the least for that candidate, I am heartened by the strong declarations for being Pro-life.Why heartened? Simple. I feel that these people strongly support the sanctity of life for a minuscule embryo and thus will in reality vote along with me for the following issues that affect all people at all stages in their lives: 1. Any and all legislation that helps the newborn including paid leave for parents, universal health care equal to that found in middle class white communities and medical/maternal care for all pregnant women with special emphasis on women of color who have a much greater probability of dying during pregnancy and labor. If you are truly Pro-life you will support: 2. Any and all educational legislation aimed at helping these young children thrive and grow including free day care to help parents work, free pre-schooling starting at age three, improved funding for teachers and schools (especially in depressed urban areas) in elementary, intermediate and high school venues. You will also pass student loan reduction measures. If you are truly Pro-life you will support: 3. Any and all health legislation, especially providing food to feed hungry children, providing numerous treatment centers available to all for HIV testing, cervical cancer screening and mammograms and providing affordable healthcare coverage to all people with pre-existing conditions. If you are truly Pro-life you will actively protest: 4. Any political action that removes children from their parents and places them in cages or sends them to places where they get lost in the bureaucratic shuffle. If you are truly Pro-life: 5. You will fight against capital punishment and nuclear arms proliferation and will stop all sales of automatic assault weapons while better controlling the sales of other types of guns. If you are truly Pro-life: 6. You will actively serve as a steward for the environment. Deaths from more active and violent hurricanes, from wild fires caused by excessive drought, from lead poisoning in polluted water - all of this can be remediated by believing in and supporting the fight against the single most pressing problem on Earth today, namely climate change that affects not only humans, but all forms of life. The science is real and the science is accurate. It remains the truth whether you believe it or not. If you are truly Pro-life you will agree to support the majority of these points; all of them help or aid the development of a positive life experience. If you are unable to support many of these points, I suggest you remove your Pro-life banners from your yard, for these signs are certainly hypocritical and deny "truth in advertising."
