Man on motorcycle seriously injured in Pleasant Township crash

PLEASANT TOWNSHIP - A Republic man was flown to Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center via Life Flight after a motorcycle vs. car accident Friday night. Scott Carter, 54, was westbound on a 1995 Harley Davidson FLSTF on CR 38 in Pleasant Township about 8:15 p.m. Friday, a release from the Norwalk post of State Highway Patrol states. Kimberley Illig, 54, of Tiffin, was eastbound in a 2017 Toyota Highlander on CR 38 and turned left to enter her private driveway, according to the release. Illig's vehicle struck Carter's motorcycle and the motorcycle went off the right side of the road after impact, the release states. Carter sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported from the scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, the release states. Illig did not sustain any injuries in the accident, according to the release. She was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident, it states. Alcohol and/or drug use are not suspected to be factors in the accident at this time, the release states. Green Springs Fire Department, North Central EMS and D&D Total Repair assisted at the scene.
