Ghost named Ellen lives there

TIFFIN — It dates back — all the way back, to 1851 — when Founders Hall was built. The urban legends of a haunted campus likely start right there, in the catacombs underneath the building where students for generations have feared is where spirits reside. Sounds such as footsteps, thuds and banging are the proof of it. Or, it's an old building with old building sounds. Either way, Founders Hall on the campus of Heidelberg University is the first Seneca county haunting featured in a series. The university was founded in 1850, and given its long history not many people would be surprised to hear parts of the campus are supposedly haunted. Founder's Hall would be the first of the 31-building campus we know today. Another Heidelberg University haunting is the basement of Willard Hall, which allegedly houses an aggressive apparition known to scare students. The last and perhaps most talked about haunting is France Hall, the home of a ghost named Ellen. She reportedly causes items to be moved or lost, students to be locked out of their room and setting off smoke detectors.
