Woman dies after car vs. pedestrian crash

A car vs. pedestrian fatal crash occurred in the 5000-block of N. SR 53 in Pleasant Township Monday about 8:30 p.m., according to a release from the Norwalk Post of State Highway Patrol. Amanda G. Borer, 35, of Tiffin, entered SR 53 from the west in pursuit of a family dog, according to the release. At the time, Carrie M. Conner, 33, also of Tiffin, was driving a 2015 Honda Civic northbound on SR 53, the release states. Conner struck Borer in the northbound lane of SR 53, it states. After striking Borer, Conner fled the scene in an unknown direction, according to the release. Borer suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release states. She was transported to the Lucas County Coroner's Office by the Seneca County Coroner's Office. Conner's vehicle was recovered Tuesday at a residence in Seneca County. Damage and debris located at the scene matched the vehicle that was recovered, according to the highway patrol's release. Conner, whose seat belt status and injury status are unknown, fled the scene and her whereabouts are unknown at this time, according to the release. She is wanted for questioning for her involvement in the crash, it states. SR 53 was shut down for a period of time Monday night, beginning at TR 150. The Ohio Department of Transportation was called to the scene to assist. Charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation, the release states. Alcohol and/or drugs usage is unknown at this time, it states. The Seneca County Sheriff's Office, Old Fort Fire Department and North Central EMS assisted at the scene.
