Loved one lost

TIFFIN — Robbie Allen Nahm was a son, brother, uncle and a friend. "He was the nicest person you could ever meet. Even if someone was mean to him, he would look past it. He wouldn't judge anyone from a bad day they had," said Nahm's sister, Lisa Nahm-Mulligan. Nahm was born Feb. 1, 1985, in Fremont. He lived there until he was 12, when he moved with his family to Tiffin. He stayed in Tiffin as other family members moved to other places. He remained close with them, however, including his sister, his mother Lauri Kiesel, brother Jonathan Nahm and with his niece Paisley and nephew AJ. He was just 35 when he died on Dec. 4 from COVID-19. "He was an amazing person and treated everyone like they were special," Kiesel said. His family remembers him as a lovable guy who made many lifelong friends because of his kind heart, friendly nature and willingness to forgive someone's past. They all described him as a selfless person, even spending some of his savings to take Johnathan to see the NFL Patriots play the Colts in Indiana. Nahm worked at Whirlpool for 10 years and later served as a driver for the Tiffin Service Cab, where he met many people. He worked for his friend, William Homler, who chose Nahm to drive for the Tiffin Service Cab's ambulette service, a job Nahm loved because he felt he was helping people. He got them to their doctor's appointments and engaged in meaningful conversations and connections with the people he served. Nahm was known for his love for the WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment, and he made many friends with others who shared his passion for the sport. He became ill in November, with cold symptoms, at first. His sickness developed into congestion, runny nose and painful ears. He went to Tiffin-Mercy Hospital, where he was told he had a double ear infection. Nahm was given antibiotics and went home, but he started to feel worse. He stayed at home to prevent spreading anything he may have been carrying. He went through all of his antibiotics and finally went back to the hospital Nov. 19. He was immediately tested for COVID and was found to be positive. Nahm was hospitalized at Tiffin-Mercy, but his condition worsened. He was sent to a hospital in Columbus, where he was put on a ventilator. His family said they felt sure he would get better. He didn't have any pre-existing conditions nor had he ever smoked. Many people had recovered and they thought the same would happen for Nahm. The hospital staff in Columbus called his family every 12 hours to provide updates about his condition. His mother, sister and niece and nephew live in Maryland so they needed to know when they should head to Columbus. Nahm had been put under sedation, the dosage was later lowered so his family could Zoom with him. "Since he was on the ventilator and highly sedated, he couldn't talk. We could all tell he was very tired, so we asked if he wanted to stop. He nodded yes and we planned on calling him the next day," Lisa said. It was so difficult for his family to see him on Zoom that day, they said. After the call his condition went down hill but they were still told not to drive to Columbus. Nahm's blood pressure dropped dramatically and his body started to go into shock. Hospital staff called the family and told them to head to Columbus, but while en route they received another call. The hospital staff asked his family to pull over; when they did they received the news that Nahm had died. "We just want people to understand that COVID is dangerous. People need to care. So many people are losing their loved ones. They can't be near them. They can't hold or touch them. People can't even have memorials because COVID is so bad," Lisa said. * Did you lose a loved on to the pandemic?
