'Cereal chef' and entrepreneur opening cereal bar in Fostoria

A brand-new type of restaurant is coming to Fostoria this year — One Bowl: a "cereal bar." Edward Wonder, the owner of trEats delivery service, is opening the shop with his business partner, Jimmie Zenor. The cereal bar project was announced on January 5. "It was an idea that I'd been talking about for a while," Wonder said. "I've heard about them in New York, Vegas and Detroit. This will be the first, and for right now, the only one in Ohio." Wonder calls himself the "master cereal chef" of One Bowl. One Bowl will be located at 115 W Center St. in downtown Fostoria, next to the Service Barber Shop. The building has been used as the trEats office until now. Wonder and his team have been renovating the inside in secret for months. "Why a cereal bar? Why not? Cereal is life!" Wonder exclaimed. "At One Bowl you'll have unlimited choices of cereal flavors and toppings in a vibrant, chill atmosphere." He wasn't exaggerating about the vibrancy. Early photos of the renovation process showed brightly painted walls, each with a different color, and framed cereal-themed art as the cherry on top. Besides Zenor, Wonder has enlisted the help of Debbie Torres, Brad Trapp, Tater Baxter and Jody Beckford, the owner of OTR Smokehouse LLC. Beckford is the one that built the actual bar in the facility. All the paint for the project was bought locally at Fostoria Paint and Supply in an effort to support other local small businesses. So how does a "cereal bar" work? "Walk in, pop a squat, order your favorite bowl of cereal," Wonder said. "We'll also have fun mash-ups of cereals, ice cream, coffee, maybe even cereal milkshakes." The bar will also offer toppings like fresh fruit. Most items on the menu will be under $5, and the restaurant will also offer delivery due to its affiliation with trEats. TrEats is a Fostoria-based transportation and food delivery service that delivers from restaurants, grocery stores and more for a fee. Because of the delivery option at One Bowl, Wonder doesn't think COVID will have any effect on the business. Wonder mentioned that aside from running these two businesses, he's also considering a 2023 mayoral run.
