Tiffin resident is Terra State's student of the month

This month's Terra State Rotary Student of the Month is Tiffin resident Kaylee Duffey, who's studying medical assisting and phlebotomy. She graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School and Sentinel Career Center in 2017. Duffey chose to go into healthcare because she wanted to help people, and chose Terra State since it was so close to her home in Tiffin. She was lured in by the medical assisting program, which differentiates itself from basic nursing programs available elsewhere. Outside of Terra State, Duffey is an STNA at St. Francis Home's dementia unit. She's also in the Medical Assistant Student Organization. She will graduate from Terra State in May, and hopes to continue working with the geriatric population. "The experience that I will take with me after I leave Terra State is learning such great concepts for my future employment in medical assisting and phlebotomy," Duffey said. "I will feel more confident in performing normal job duties when the time comes." Duffey also has an interest in photography, and hopes to open her own business in the future. She was nominated for student of the month by Sarah Poore, adjunct instructor for medical assisting and phlebotomy. "Kaylee has consistently been that student you always see smiling. She is not afraid to chase her goals and she definitely knows what she wants for her future career," said Poore. "I think she is going to be a wonderful medical assistant or phlebotomist and I can't wait to see where her career takes her." "I am grateful for my mother, Christina Gibson, my grandmother, Wanda Reynolds, and my boyfriend, Taylor Conley for always pushing me to the limit with school because they wanted to see me succeed," said Duffey. She also thanked her dog, Lacey, for listening to her rants and relieving stress.
