Dems appoint Grandillo to board of elections

Nancy Grandillo has been recommended by the Seneca County Democratic Party to take the place of Mary Puffenberger on the Seneca County Board of Elections, said board Chairman Jim Fruth. Puffenberger's term ends March 1, and she did not seek reappointment. Grandillo's name and information has been sent to the office of Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose for review where a background check is to be conducted before LaRose makes a final decision on appointing her to a four-year term, said board of elections Director Jim Ehrman. Fruth said the Democrats met via Zoom Thursday, and Grandillo was unopposed after Devin Black, the party treasurer, withdrew his application earlier in the day. In 2019, Grandillo ran for a seat in the fourth ward for Tiffin City Council, but was not elected. She serves on the Tiffin Shade Tree and Beautification Commission and the Tiffin Bicentennial Committee. She is a retired teacher and a certified master gardener with related certifications. If approved by LaRose, Grandillo will join Fruth as the two Democratic representatives. The two Republicans board members are David Koehl and James Cline. Ehrman said Koehl was approved for reappointment at a recent meeting of the Seneca County Republicans.
